Single handed Feva sailing
Added on 25 May 2017
Please note!
Single handing Feva dinghies.
The strong gusty winds experienced during the last few Sunday sailing sessions
indicate the problems trying to single hand a Feva with both main and jib sails up.
Strong gusts resulted in many capsizes, which were hard to recover from
due to the cleated jib catching the wind during attempts to righten the boat.
The fully rigged Feva is designed as a 2 handed boat
but it is designed to be sailed with just the mainsail when single handed.
I recommend that in future, single handed sailors using the club's Fevas
should rig with just the mainsail, unless the weather is particularly calm.
